A glitch in the regional pricing of EA Sports FC26 has reportedly helped many users buy FC points for a fraction of the price. How? By spoofing their IP address with a VPN.
FC points are a premium in-game currency that players can use in the game to build a better team and access other benefits.
While the best VPN services can help gamers boost both their privacy and connection speeds, this time they also enable some users to trick the system and gain access to way cheaper rates than they should have to.
Reports suggest that both PC and console players may have been affected, despite the error being accessible for longer on PCs.
While there are claims online that some who took advantage of the glitch had their account banned, you should consider turning off crossplay to avoid playing with any of these accounts.
“The biggest EA mistake in history”
In what has been described by some online commentators as the “biggest EA mistake in history,” it enabled players to purchase 18,500 FC points –normally priced at 2 million rupiah (a bit more than $120) – for less than $1.
This was made possible by an error in the FC points’ pricing in Indonesia, which incorrectly summarized the order and included a decimal point error.
“This led to people buying tons of FIFA Points for 500,000 and 300,000 and opening the packages. This is why selling coins on the PC platform is so cheap and the market is in a tragic situation,” wrote a Reddit user reporting this issue.
All users had to do was connect to a VPN server based in Indonesia and trick the system into thinking they were browsing from the country. This allowed them to get an overpowered team in no time.
Though unconfirmed by EA as yet, some online commentators have been suggesting that those users caught using a VPN to take advantage of this glitch and trick the system had their accounts either suspended for the season or permanently banned.
While this has definitely been a misuse of virtual private network (VPN) technology, there are many legitimate reasons why you should consider using this tool when playing online.

That said, if you’d like to turn off crossplay, just head to your settings by clicking on EA Connect, Social Settings, and toggling off Cross-play in the tab you find when opening Cross-play Settings.
