God Of War 6 Announcement Leak Splits Gamers Over New Lead Character

God of War really has been one of the most consistent series in video game history, delivering immense experiences to players over the course of two decades. Though it has been on proverbial ice since Ragnarok, with no news about developer Sony Santa Monica Studio’s plans, rumors are starting to grow that the next game is on the way.

The problem everyone has right now is that there are a lot of questions about what exactly the next game is going to look like. Kratos has been the stalwart protagonist for God of War’s entire run, but the ending of the last game throws into question his capacity to get back out there to start killing deities again.

What Does The Future Hold For God Of War?

The noise growing around the next God of War game has also brought with it a bunch of additional information about what we’re actually going to get, with the leading theory that the next game will see Kratos’ wife Faye stepping in as the main protagonist for this next run out.

At the same time, journalist Tom Henderson also recently spoke on Insider Gaming Weekly: A Video Game Podcast, claiming that God of War was due to be announced soon, in April, which could line it up perfectly with the next State of Play. The only issue with that is that the next show was supposedly meant to be entirely third party, but don’t rule out an appearance from God of War there.

This May Be The Faye-Lead God Of War Spinoff

Over on Reddit, under a post sharing the above information, fans were keen to stress that this will almost certainly be the Faye game rumored.

“Worth bearing in mind here, just to set expectations in case people don’t know, we’re not talking about the next mainline title with Kratos, but the first in the spinoff franchise. Presumably this first entry has Faye as the lead. This is what Cory has been working on, per previous leaks,” one comment read.

Others put forward an alternative theory about when we may see announcements, with one saying, “Probably one next week for 3rd party and one big Sony game and one in June is the normal State of Play like the one we had in February.

Whatever does end up happening specifically, the new God of War game is on the way, and it will be interesting to see what the studio has managed to cook up without Kratos at the helm.
