GTA 6 Official Gameplay Leaves Fans Split

[

With Grand Theft Auto VI expected to launch in just seven months, we are finally on the homestretch when it comes to the arrival of what many consider to be the biggest video game release of all time. After all, it has been well over a decade since Rockstar Games released its last Grand Theft Auto entry, and with multiple delays on the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI, it has been a long time coming.

First expected to launch in Fall 2025 before being pushed back to May 2026, Grand Theft Auto VI is finally expected to launch on 19 November 2026, meaning that we have just a few months to go. However, with Rockstar holding back that highly anticipated third trailer, fans have been debating what this could mean.

It was back in December 2023 that Rockstar released the first official trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, showing us a cinematic that allowed us to see where we would be heading in the eighth main Grand Theft Auto installment. Additionally, it also confirmed that players would be taking on the role of brand-new protagonists Jason and Lucia after years of leaks hinting at their arrival. A second trailer followed in May 2025, and it is this trailer that is the source of today’s discussion. Although it looked like yet another cinematic trailer, Rockstar later confirmed that some of its footage was actually gameplay, leading fans to speculate which moments we would actually see in the game.

That being said, with the cinematic moments being so flawless, it was hard to tell which moments are gameplay, but players have been combing through it ever since. As such, one user over on r/GTA6 has decided that one iconic moment must be an example of upcoming gameplay in Grand Theft Auto VI.

“This is gameplay,” they said simply, alongside a screenshot of a moment at the start of Trailer 2 which sees Jason cruising down the road in his car. “I feel like this part where this lady screams, “Hi Jasoooon!” is gameplay. I think the world is so alive that the NPC’s know and remember you like how people in real life would. I also feel like this part being gameplay went over people’s heads because of the angle they used. Anyone else think the same?”

With NPC AI expected to be unlike anything we have seen before, ideas like this do make sense, and it seems as though fellow fans are on board with the idea. “I don’t know. Feels like scripted to me,” one user commented. “The way he reacts, feels like an intro, where they have a scripted NPC or cutscene even. But if you are right, it’s really amazing.” Another said, “As a game designer, I’m 98% sure this is gameplay. If it wasn’t, we wouldn’t be seeing this kind of hand-on-steering-wheel bug. So it’s clearly WIP — there are inconsistencies, and the IK clearly isn’t fully polished yet.”

Although Rockstar confirmed that there were moments of gameplay sprinkled into the Grand Theft Auto VI trailer, it did not reveal which moments would be in the final product, so yes, this iconic Jason moment could indeed be an example of the seamless cinematic to gameplay moments we will get to experience in just a few months’ time.
