GTA 6 Official Price Tag Update Is Definitely Positive

[

When it comes to the launch of the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI, we are on the homestretch with just seven months to go. After multiple delays meant that the Rockstar title was pushed back from a Fall 2025 to a 26 May to, finally, a 19 November, release date, it seems as though things are finally back on track, but one question still remains, and it is a pretty important one: how much will Grand Theft Auto VI cost?

Since its announcement, and the news that it is expected to be the biggest game launch of all time, fans have been both excited and anxious over its potential price point. With AAA games costing a minimum of $60 in recent years, what could they charge for a game that is set to dwarf them all in comparison, at least when it comes to units sold? However, it seems as though some light has been shed on the conundrum in recent days following an interview with Take-Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick.

Speaking at iicon, a brand-new conference centered around video game executives, the CEO of Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, addressed the potential cost of Grand Theft Auto VI.

“Consumers pay for the value that you bring to them, and our job is to charge way way way less of the value delivery. How you feel about something you buy is the intersection of the thing itself and what you pay for. Consumers need to feel like the thing itself is amazing and the price they were charged was fair for what they got.”

Zelnick went onto discuss how, unlike other areas of the economy, video game pricing has not been affected as much, with AAA releases still costing $60-70 in recent years. So, although the CEO does not give us a concrete answer about the cost of Grand Theft Auto VI, he has made it sound as though it could follow suit when it comes to other AAA releases in the industry.

“If you look at it through that lens, that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. But that isn’t the lens through which we look. Instead, we look at… how do we deliver something amazing, and how do we make sure that what people pay for it feels very reasonable… “What we think about is making the most spectacular piece of entertainment on Earth, in history – and it’s a pretty daunting challenge. If we do that, and if we’re of service to our customers, then the upside will take care of itself.”

So, there you have it. The Take-Two Interactive CEO may not have given us an exact number for the cost of Grand Theft Auto VI, but it seems as though the rumors of it potentially being upwards of $100 are unfounded. Hopefully, this comes to fruition come November.
