Halo: CE Remake Release Date Leak Roasted By Gamers

[

Halo fans have had mixed feelings about the upcoming remake of Halo: CE, affectionately titled Halo: Campaign Evolved. The new ground-up remake of the original Halo game modernizes the campaign mode and story for Halo: Combat Evolved, but to many fans’ disappointment, doesn’t include any multiplayer gameplay features—the defining aspect of the series.

In response to a recent leak on X that apparently reveals Halo: Campaign Evolved‘s official release date and details about Early Access, fans on Reddit aren’t holding any punches. The original leak is from a well-known source in the Halo-sphere, grunt.api, a source that was on of the first to provide details about Halo Studios’ migration to Unreal Engine.

Halo: Campaign Evolved Release Date & Early Access Leak Online

According to the leak, Halo: Campaign Evolved is set to launch on July 28, 2026, with an Early Access period planned starting July 23. While still unconfirmed, the timeline makes sense given previous announcements from Halo Studios and Xbox, not to mention the upcoming showcase in June. If the leak is true, an official release date confirmation is likely to drop soon considering the details have already started circulating heavily online.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is Halo Studios upcoming, somewhat controversial remake of the original Halo: CE, and will be releasing on Xbox Series consoles, PC, and is making Halo‘s PS debut on the PlayStation 5 as well. Further campaign remakes from Halo Studios are expected as well, with several leaks over the past months suggesting that a Halo 2 & 3 remake will possibly release as a combined game.

Halo Fans Aren’t All Excited

Halo 3 - Key Art

Despite the Halo: CE remake being one of the most anticipated reboots for many fans of the franchise, not all fans are that excited about the game’s launch, and are even less impressed that a game with a relatively short campaign is going to need an Early Access launch. Many gamers see this as a blatant cash grab from Xbox and Halo Studios, with players like bxnellis saying, “Early Access for a remake of a 10 hour Campaign? desperate for money then.”

Gamers like redditman181 point out that Early Access for a 25-year-old campaign “feels a bit ridiculous,” though it would not be all that surprising given Microsoft and Xbox’s release practices in the past few years.

Further, despite no details about the game’s eventual price tag, fans have already started roasting the Halo: CE remake for being overpriced, especially if there’s a premium price or deluxe upgrade cost for early access. Partially, fans feel a bit underwhelmed and even slightly betrayed by the reality that Halo: Campaign Evolved won’t include Halo: CE‘s beloved PvP multiplayer.

While there’s almost certainly a new Halo mainline multiplayer game in the works, the focus now for Microsoft and Halo Studios is on the Halo: Campaign Evolved remake, and players will likely not see an announcement regarding Halo 7 until after it launches this summer.
