Hulk Lifts All Of Antarctica, Mirroring His Iconic Secret Wars Feat

Forty-two years later, Hulk recreates his most iconic feat of strength on a dramatically larger scale. The Hulk’s capacity for destruction is a boundless engine that renders standard power-scaling metrics obsolete. Unlike other super-beings whose energy reserves can be depleted, the Hulk’s strength is on a feedback loop where physical trauma and psychological distress act as direct catalysts for exponential growth.

While the Hulk is Marvel’s benchmark for sheer physical force, the Marvel Universe is populated by other entities whose feats of power defy expectations. In Hulk Smashes Everything #5, after following the Leader to New York from Latveria in a single bound, Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, and the Fantastic Four join forces to send Hulk to one of the most desolate places in the whole world, Antarctica. There, Hulk digs into the ground until the Earth’s core shoots him back to the surface. After collapsing the Antarctic continental plate and destabilizing the Earth’s core, Hulk falls beneath Antarctica. Frustrated, Hulk literally lifts all of Antarctica with his shoulders, completing a full push-up with the full weight of a continent on top of him.

The Green Goliath’s breathtaking feat in Hulk Smashes Everything #5 is quite similar to his most iconic feat of strength. In 1984’s Secret Wars, Hulk famously lifts and holds an entire mountain range on his shoulders, saving his fellow heroes from being crushed in Battleworld. In this continuity, Hulk drops all his limits and doesn’t unlock his full power to save other heroes, but simply out of sheer frustration and resentment for being shunned and toyed with.

His Worldbreaker persona released so much gamma radiation and raw force that he nearly sank the Eastern Seaboard with a single footstep. In even more extreme cases, such as The Immortal Hulk, he’s depicted as a multiversal constant capable of outlasting the universe itself. If the Marvel Universe’s main Hulk were to lose control on the level of his Hulk Smashes Everything variant, he could theoretically pull off similar feats.
