I’m always on the look-out for great printer deals, and today I’ve found two. But here’s a tip: you’ll want to avoid one of them to save some extra cash.
See, right now, Epson’s EcoTank ET-2860 is down to £141 (was £240) at Amazon. It’s a great printer, I’ve used it loads of times after buying it for my mum, and it does everything a budget ink tank should do. I’d recommend it any day of the week if you want a refillable printer at a low price.
At the same time, Amazon has discounted the EcoTank ET-2861 to £150 (was £240). And what do you get for the extra nine quid? Absolutely nothing. These are the same Epson printers, identical in every way except one – the model number, which is usually changed depending on the retailer. So, this is my public service announcement. Swerve the ET-2861 and get the ET-2860 instead.
Top EcoTank ink tank printer deals: Spot the difference
I like ink tank printers. They offer way more value for money compared to inkjets (and those pricey inkjet cartridge replacements). That’s even more true with both of these Epson EcoTank deals, as they come with four bottles of ink in the box, which Epson reckons should last up to three years before you need to buy any more.
Anyway, I found this printer fast to print – it’s around 33 pages per minute in black and white, 15 pages in colour – and while output isn’t ultra-high resolution, it’s perfect for home printing.
If you’re upgrading your home office set-up, this one is an easy recommendation from me. Just make sure to get the ET-2860 if you want the best discount here. Functionally, there really is no difference between them – usually, you’ll find those branded as ET-2860 on sites like Argos and Currys. But the chassis and feature-set is exactly the same.
