For the past year or so, robot vacuum brands have been weirdly preoccupied with adding mechanical arms to their bots. So far, we’ve only seen one example actually make it to market – the Roborock Saros Z70, which I found looked cool but wasn’t actually that useful in practice (it hasn’t made it into my best robot vacuum recommendations list).
However, I’ve just seen Dreame’s take on the idea at IFA 2025, and it adds some new functionality that could change my mind about arm-equipped robot vacuums.
Like Roborock’s model, the Dreame Cyber10 Ultra’s arm has a pincer for tidying away clutter. However, where it differs is that the Cyber10 can also select from a range of detail tools, which attach to the end of the arm and enable it to perform other cleaning tasks.
Currently, there’s a brush for cleaning into the corners of rooms, and a duster for dusting baseboards. I saw the former in action and it didn’t quite blow me away, but I think the concept has tons of potential.
First the bot approached the dock – which has hutches that contain the extra tools – and very slowly selected the correct tool for what it wanted to do. It then docked the tool on the end of its arm, before making its way over to the corner of the demo area to do some dusting.
There’s apparently a suction channel within the arm, so the bot is actually vacuuming (presumably quite gently) on the end of its arm. The cleaning process appeared very lethargic, and the tool didn’t look very secure on the end of the arm, but imagine the effort-saving potential if the design was developed and improved.
I don’t have a release date or pricing specifics, but there’s enough information available to make me think this bot might be making its way to market before too long.
