If you haven’t already made the switch to 4K UHD Blu-ray, I genuinely couldn’t recommend it enough.
I recently wrote about my experience swapping Netflix Premium for a 4K Blu-ray player, and the results were truly eye-opening. In summary, this move supplied sharper picture quality, truly immersive audio, and a superior movie-watching experience overall. After all, 4K discs use far less compression than streaming services, resulting in richer colors and much more detailed sound.
So, if you’re thinking about getting into 4K – or if you’ve already got some skin in the game – I’m here to share six of my go-to discs. I’ve personally used all of these, either for my own entertainment or to test some of the best Dolby Atmos soundbars here at TechRadar. And I can say with confidence that each of these captures the audio-visual beauty of their source material with finesse.
The Batman and Seven also make the cut, and plate up incredibly clear facial details and phenomenal black tones. Arguably, my favorite 4K disc on this list – Arrow Video’s version of The Mask – is a true delight as well. Sure, the titular character’s bright yellow suit and striking green face look spectacular, but it’s the awesome Atmos effects and pinpoint precision of each sound that really stick out to me.
