Jantje Friese & Baran bo Odar, who are best known for their mind-bending Netflix time travel series, Dark, are also a part of the show’s growing team. Their involvement suggests that It: Welcome to Derry will fully embrace its sci-fi elements and Pennywise’s established time-travel lore in season 2.

Like Netflix’s Dark, It: Welcome to Derry season 2 could also lean heavily into complex, multi-timeline storytelling, where the hauntings of one generation could directly influence another. Apart from Jantje Friese & Baran bo Odar, one of Stranger Things‘ writers, Jessica Mecklenburg, has also joined the HBO show’s writing team.
