Jenna Ortega‘s new 2026 movie role is one that perfectly casts the actor in its lead role, cementing another must-watch for fans. Having been acting professionally since she was nine, Jenna Ortega has amassed a considerable range of roles in movies and shows over the course of her career on-screen thus far, which has seen her appear in everything from Iron Man 3 to Over The Garden Wall.
That said, Ortega has become better known for some roles than others, with her appearance in Wednesday as the daughter of the Addams family being perhaps her best known performance to date. This is a fair claim to fame given the Netflix show is one of the biggest of all time on the platform, though it’s worth noting Ortega is also known for her roles in a range of horror releases, including The Babysitter: Killer Queen, X, and 2022’s Scream.
Jenna Ortega’s movie filmography is set to be updated soon, with another new addition being on the near horizon. This is exciting by itself, but the movie offers all the more promise given how it appears set to capitalize on Ortega’s acting talents and specific honing of one part of her repertoire that seems as though it will specifically benefit this upcoming film.
Klara And The Sun Features A Truly Perfect Casting For Jenna Ortega
Klara and The Sun is a 2026 sci-fi movie set to release this October that sees Jenna Ortega play the central role of the titular Klara, an “Artificial Friend” who is tasked with serving as an emotional support companion of sorts to a family going through much turmoil. With the movie adapting the well-recieved Kazuo Ishiguro novel of the same name, there’s considerable promise in the upcoming film, especially because of the role it places Ortega in.
While Klara is a very different figure to Wednesday‘s own Ortega-lead titular lead, the similarities between the acting demands for the two already show Jenna Ortega is a stellar choice for the film’s star. Klara’s artificial nature means she starts out as a blank slate of sorts, as is reflected in her expressions, and her somewhat uncanny and oftentimes exaggerated reactions to the world she discovers around her.
Given Jenna Ortega is best known for her expression control and ability to do a startlingly good job keeping a totally neutral expression as Wednesday – and then in conveying a lot through expression and body language alone – it does seem Klara is set to benefit massively from the actor’s prior experience and training in this field, which is sure to add an extra something to the role.
Klara And The Sun Is A Near-Perfect Movie For Fans Of Jenna Ortega’s Role In Wednesday
In some senses, Klara and Wednesday couldn’t be more different – with the Klara of the movie seeming to be a happy and somewhat naive being given she has almost no experience of the world around her, whereas Wednesday is more jaded, somber, and reserved. However, there are also a range of striking similarities between the two that mean people who loved Wednesday and Ortega’s performance in it seem uniquely positioned to enjoy Klara and The Sun.
Though the duo convey it in very different ways, both Klara and Wednesday are well-intentioned figures who look out for those near and dear to them, and who quickly reveal hidden depths that are concealed by their initial introductions. Similarly, much in the way Wednesday is misunderstood because of her more somber countenance, Klara is misunderstood as being a “robot”, whereas it’s clear she’s capable of genuine emotion and connection.
Altogether, Klara and The Sun does seem as though it will share key commonalities with Wednesday that will make it a must-watch for fans of the popular Netflix series, with the most important of course being that Jenna Ortega‘s acting appears to make both lead characters engaging protagonists.
