Jon Favreau will soon be leaving for Las Vegas.
The veteran filmmaker is confirmed to headline CinemaCon’s annual Creative Community luncheon. Set to take place in Caesars Palace’s Octavius Ballroom on April 16, the chat will be moderated by Matt Belloni, host of The Town and Puck News and former editor of The Hollywood Reporter.
The annual luncheon is held on the final day of convention, and Favreau conveniently will already be in the building as the appearance comes just ahead of the Walt Disney Studios CinemaCon presentation at 2:30 p.m., during which he will present his upcoming Disney title Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu starring Pedro Pascal. Past participants at the lunch, sponsored this year by Fathom Entertainment and D-BOX Technologies, have included Glen Powell, Colman Domingo, Josh Brolin, Edgar Wright, Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio, Elizabeth Banks, Jerry Bruckheimer, Patty Jenkins and Jon M. Chu.
“Anticipation for a new Star Wars movie on the big screen is sky high, making this an incredible way to kick off the summer movie season,” said Cinema United president and CEO Michael O’Leary. “This event presents a great opportunity to hear from Jon Favreau, one of the most talented filmmakers working today. I want to thank Jon, Matt Belloni for hosting, as well as the entire teams at Disney and Lucasfilm for helping ensure this luncheon will be the talk of CinemaCon.”
The Mandalorian & Grogu opens in theaters worldwide on May 22, in what will be the first release in the Star Wars franchise since 2019’s Rise of the Skywalker. Hosted by Cinema United, CinemaCon takes place April 13-16, and is presented by sponsors the Coca-Cola Company and Barco.
