After spending nearly a decade creating one of manga’s most beloved romantic comedies, Oda has earned the opportunity to focus on his family and recharge creatively. The continued success of Komi Can’t Communicate shows that the series doesn’t need constant new chapters to remain relevant.

If anything, a hiatus could actually be good for Tomohito Oda’s career. Rather than try and force himself to keep working when he’s probably tired from Komi Can’t Communicate, a hiatus gives Oda a chance to recharge physically and mentally, and as such, Tomohito Oda’s hiatus can help him enter a state of being that will allow his next project to be just as good as Komi Can’t Communicate, if not better. Any Komi Can’t Communicate fan should be nothing but happy about Tomohito Oda’s hiatus, and whenever he returns with something new, it will be well worth the wait.
