Love Island USA is once again the show of the summer.
Season 8 has come out of the gate with 2.3B minutes viewed through its first two weeks, up 50% from Season 7, per preliminary Nielsen data. This makes it the No. 1 series on streaming for the weeks of June 1 and June 8.
That number is expected to marginally rise when final Nielsen numbers are in.
The franchise is also finding success with its revamped Aftersun show hosted by Ciara Miller and Tefi Pessoa. Per Peacock, the Saturday show’s audience is up 144% from Season 7 Aftersun episodes.
There is no doubt that the series is growing, with 27% of its audience comprised of new viewers, NBCUniversal revealed Thursday based on internal streaming data. The company also noted that 26% of the show’s engagement comes from phones and tablets, while Nielsen primarily measures viewership on television screens.
Speaking of, there’s also been a 175% increase in unique users on the Love Island USA mobile app season-over-season, ITV says. The second vote of Season 8 saw a 77% increase in submissions versus the same vote last year, too.
On social media, Love Island USA content has already generated more than 1B video views season-to-date.
Hosted by Ariana Madix and narrated by comedian Iain Stirling, Love Island USA season 8 streams on Peacock, with new episodes dropping daily at 6 p.m. PT / 9 p.m. ET everyday except Wednesdays. Aftersun airs on Saturday.
The series is produced by ITV America, in association with Lifted Entertainment and Motion Entertainment, a WPP Media Company and distributed by ITV Studios. David George, Adam Sher, Jordana Hochman, Bernie Schaeffer, Ben Thursby-Palmer, James Barker, Blake Garrett, Courtney Rosenthal, Sophie Brown, Richard Cowles, Mike Spencer, Tom Gould, Ali Hill and Martin Oxley executive produce the series.
