Marvel is officially reviving its manga imprint, the Marvel Mangaverse, and its redesign of the heroes looks amazing. In 2001, Marvel launched a manga-inspired universe called the Marvel Mangaverse in an attempt to blend Marvel with anime and manga; “attempt”, of course, is the key word, as the line was largely unsuccessful and ended unceremoniously in 2002, with the last story being a short-lived revival of the line in 2006.
The Marvel Mangaverse was one of Marvel’s most wasted pieces of potential, especially with how mainstream anime and manga have become in recent years, but it finally has a chance at success. 2026 marks the 25th anniversary of the Marvel Mangaverse, and to celebrate, Marvel is officially reviving the Marvel Mangaverse for a five-issue series this September.
The series looks to be completely different from the original Mangaverse, but just from the character designs alone, the new Marvel Mangaverse looks nothing short of incredible.
