Warning: SPOILERS For Masters Of The UniverseMasters of the Universe‘s director confirms the location of the surprise cameo character in the film’s post-credits scene.
Bringing the fantasy world of Eternia to life, Masters of the Universe centers on Prince Adam (Nicholas Galitzine), who was exiled on Earth and must claim his destiny to become He-Man and save his sword and sorcery world from the evil Skeletor (Jared Leto). Masters of the Universe introduces numerous characters from Mattel’s enduring 1980s toy line and cartoon, but saves one of the most iconic names as a tease for a sequel.
Speaking to CinemaBlend, Masters of the Universe director Travis Knight was asked about where She-Ra, played by uncredited English actress Lauren Saliu, is standing in her post-credits scene. Knight responded, “You couldn’t tell? That’s the Fright Zone behind her, for the keen-eyed fan.” Travis then elaborated on She-Ra’s importance if there’s a sequel. Read his quote and watch the clip below:
Travis Knight: I can’t say anything about She-Ra as it pretains to this movie…. There is a world that exists outside the frame of tbe film. And if we are to be so lucky as to tell more stories in this universe, She-Ra would play a big part in it because she has a huge role in the mythology of Masters of the Universe as Adam’s twin sister, Adora, and there are certainly people in my life who absolutely love this character and would love to see her properly on the big screen.
The Fright Zone is the home base of Hordak, the arch-enemy of She-Ra. The forbidding fortress is located on the planet Etheria, where Hordak kidnapped She-Ra when she was a baby. In Masters of the Universe‘s mythology, She-Ra is Princess Adora, the twin sister of Prince Adam.
She-Ra is referred to as “Force Captain Adora” in Masters of the Universe‘s post-credits scene, which was the title given to her by Hordak before she broke free from his control and became She-Ra. As of the end of Masters of the Universe, Adam doesn’t know he has a twin sister, setting up their first meeting if there’s a sequel. Hordak was also Skeletor’s teacher in the mythos.
He-Man and She-Ra first shared the big screen in 1985’s animated movie, He-Man and She-Ra: The Secret of the Sword, which introduced the She-Ra: Princess of Power spinoff cartoon and toy line. In 2018, She-Ra was rebooted by Netflix in a new solo animated series that had no connection to He-Man outside the reference to “Greyskull.”
While fans hope to see She-Ra and He-Man together on the big screen, the reportedly $170 million budgeted Masters of the Universe is a box office bomb, grossing only $56 million worldwide opening weekend. Masters of the Universe‘s box office dropped 70% in its second week. Unfortunately, She-Ra’s post-credits scene may be all fans see of the Fright Zone in live-action.
