Disney has officially confirmed the release schedule for Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord, one of the biggest Star Wars projects of the year.
The new animated series will premiere exclusively on Disney+ on April 6. Subsequent episodes will continue to be released in batches every Monday, with the full season running for ten episodes total. The final two episodes will stream on May 4, otherwise known as Star Wars Day.

The streamer also revealed exact episode release times. New episodes will drop at 3am ET/12am PT, or 8am BST for those in the U.K.
Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord will pick up a year after the beloved animated series The Clone Wars. Sam Witwer, who voiced Darth Maul in the original series, will be reprising the titular role.
Lucasfilm Animation VP, Athena Portillo, went on record with IGN to describe Shadow Maul as “an upgrade from what we’ve done, and even from the Bad Batch, even from Tales of the Underworld.” Portillo also spoke highly of Witwer’s involvement in developing the villainous character.
We got the chance to speak with Witwer himself last year, who offered his own insight into what it means to return to such an iconic role. Most notably, the actor cited the importance of looking to the character’s past, digging up unanswered questions about his life and the decisions we’ve already seen him make. (If you could use a refresher before the new series, we’ve broken down Darth Maul’s story so far.)
We’ll get to see whether the new series answers any of those questions when new episodes drop on Monday. For what it’s worth, Disney is certainly confident about this one, having already renewed the series for a second season.
