Michael B. Jordan’s Next Movie After Sinners Is Netflix’s New KPop Demon Hunters

[

Michael B. Jordan’s next movie is only weeks away from releasing on Netflix, and looks as though it could be a hit with fans of KPop Demon Hunters based on its story and themes. Following the major acclaim Michael B. Jordan earned for his roles in 2025’s horror smash-hit Sinners, the revelation his next role is set to be in a much more family-friendly affair may have been somewhat surprising – though it’s a move that’s sure to further cement the actor’s range to fans.

As it stands, though, this next animated movie looks as though it stands a good chance of being decidedly successful when it releases on Netflix, which would bring Jordan another film success, albeit this time one more solely focusing on the world of streaming, rather than initially releasing in cinemas as Sinners itself did.

Given said film appears as though it has some key elements that should appeal to KPop Demon Hunters fans story wise – and in terms of the film featuring a talented cast with the likes of Michael B. Jordan and Juno Temple playing starring roles – there’s plenty of reason to look forward to this impending release, which is set to grace our screens in just a few weeks.

Swapped Has Some Serious Potential On Netflix

Animated movies have long been capable of getting some serious traction on Netflix, but the success of KPop Demon Hunters has opened up the genre even more for those who use the streaming platform, by demonstrating the visual and narrative quality many animated movies possess to some who would otherwise have likely never given this film format a chance.

This makes it all the more interesting that Swapped looks set to explore similar story territory conceptually. A crucial focus of KPop Demon Hunters was how the movie showed the dangers of judging others based on how they look and the importance of being true to yourself through Rumi’s story, and Swapped appears to delve into much of the same territory due to the biases the two animal species the film focuses on initially have against one another, before the two titular characters come to understand each other, much as Zoe and Mira come to better understand Rumi.

World-wise, both movies are also set in fantasy-oriented worlds, though KPop Demon Hunters approaches this from more of a fantasy realism perspective, and Swapped is in a more fully fantastical universe, wherein magic and magical animals are commonplace. That said, each film uses this setting to fuel their striking visuals and to make their story feel suitably larger-than-life.

Swapped’s Debut Is Just A Few Weeks Away

Swapped‘s release timing also appears as though it may help how the film fares when it debuts on Netflix, since the action comedy is due to arrive on the streaming service towards the end of Spring.

Swapped is set to release on Netflix on May 1st, continuing the tradition of a wide range of movies and shows appearing on the streaming service at the start of each month. As such, while Swapped is the biggest Netflix Original to be arriving on the service at this date, it isn’t the only major release set to hit the platform, as Jennifer’s Body, Green Book, La Brea season 1 to 4, and several other movies and shows are scheduled to join Netflix alongside the animated film.

This timing means Swapped can benefit from things like the May period being a common time for school holidays across the world, and from bank holidays like Memorial Day in America and the two May bank holidays celebrated in the UK, opening up a good chunk of time wherein people and the younger audience likely to make up much of the movie’s viewership specifically may be watching things on Netflix more than usual.

This release date is also exciting in that it means there’s just over two weeks left until Swapped debuts on Netflix, and audiences get to enjoy the next major animated movie to appear on the platform. Hopefully, Swapped will live up to the hopes for it, and demonstrate the talents of its stellar cast all the while.
