Monster Hunter Meets Valheim In Massive New 2027 RPG

Monster Hunter has had its share of ups and downs, including its Steam releases. While the series started off with a bang among a dedicated audience, it took a long while to become a mainstream franchise, especially in the West. Even in the current era, it’s having growing pains.

You could argue that Monster Hunter: World was the big breakthrough, even by Capcom’s own admission, since that was the goal all along. Monster Hunter Rise was another bona fide success right after, garnering over 15 million in sales, giving it the silver medal behind World ​​​​​​in overall series sales.

Now, thanks to a new announcement on Steam, you can look forward to another monster hunting (and taming) RPG. Just know that this particular game is really ambitious, so it remains to be seen if it’ll follow through.

Coming next year from Magnus Games Studio is Wild Wild Eden, a survival and monster-taming game that manages to mix and match some classic mechanics from the past 30 years of gaming.

Here’s the full description from the developer: “Survive a primitive fantasy world in Wild Wild Eden, an open-world survival crafting game where monsters are family. Pet, feed, and protect your companions. As a tribal chief, raise your monster friends, build a thriving base, and explore a harsh yet heartwarming world together.”

As a general rule, you’ll be accompanied by creature companions throughout your adventure. You’ll wander through this uncharted world as you bond with more creatures, some of which are cute, while others are formidable. Resource gathering (while riding on creatures) is possible, as is crafting and building. A combat system and boss fights are also teased, to ensure that you know it’s not just a survival game.

So far, Wild Wild Eden is slated as a one-player game, but the “max number of concurrent players is TBA.” This seems to be something the team is still figuring out, and we should hopefully get more details leading into launch.

Wild Wild Eden looks to be something of a middle ground between survival games and Pokemon-style RPGs,meshing several big games together in a way that seems ambitious. Also, much like Pokémon, you’ll throw objects at creatures to tame them, including sleeping potions in the case of Wild Wild Eden.

At the moment, Wild Wild Eden is set for a “Q1 2027” release from Shueisha Games. It’s planning an Early Access release in the Spring of 2027 and is currently listed only for Steam.
