Mubi Locks Co-Financing Pact With IPR.VC

[

Mubi and IPR. VC have locked what has been described as a multi-year alliance to co-finance a slate of European films for theatrical release and global distribution on Mubi.

Fatherland, the latest feature by Paweł Pawlikowski, and Felix van Groeningen’s Let Love In are the first films to be produced under the alliance.

“This alliance with IPR.VC, a team that truly understands the value of ambitious, filmmaker-driven work, gives us greater capacity to support filmmakers, protect the integrity of their vision, and bring bold, distinctive films to audiences around the world,” Efe Cakarel, Founder and CEO of MUBI, said in a statement.

“Beginning with Fatherland and Let Love In, it reflects exactly the kind of cinema we want to keep championing.”

Pawlikowski wrote Fatherland alongside Hendrik Handloegten. The film stars August Diehl (A Hidden Life), Sandra Hüller (The Zone of Interest), Anna Madeley (Patrick Melrose), Devid Striesow (All Quiet on the Western Front), Theo Trebs (The White Ribbon), and Hanns Zischler (Munich).

The film’s official synopsis reads: Set at the height of the Cold War, Fatherland centres on the relationship between the writer Thomas Mann (Hanns Zischler) and his daughter Erika (Sandra Hüller), an actress, journalist and rally driver, as they embark on a road trip in a black Buick cruiser across a Germany in ruins. Fatherland is produced by Mubi, OUR Films’ Mario Gianani and Lorenzo Mieli, Extreme Emotions’ Ewa Puszczynska, Nine Hours’ Jeanne Tremsal and Edward Berger, Chapter2’s Dimitri Rassam, and Circle One’s Lorenzo Gangarossa.

Let Love In is written by van Groeningen, Charlotte Vandermeersch and Anne Paulicevich. The film stars Vandermeersch and Luca Marinelli (The Eight Mountains). The official synopsis reads: Let Love In is the story of one couple’s emotional journey as they question everything they once took for granted when a long-kept affair is confessed. But what looks like a relationship in crisis reveals itself as a story of healing and reconnection, a quest for honesty, true intimacy, and deep understanding, redefining what it means to be lovers.
