NBC Still Hasn’t Renewed The Only Network Show W/ Rare 100% On Rotten Tomatoes & That’s A Shame

[

The only show on traditional broadcast with a rare 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes is still not renewed by NBC. With only a few weeks left in the 2025-2026 TV cycle, what the next fall season will look like is starting to get clearer. CBS has already confirmed its fall 2026 schedule, and soon enough, its peers, ABC and NBC will follow suit. Before that, however, the latter networks would have to make final decisions about what current shows are returning beyond the current cycle.

For NBC specifically, the peacock broadcaster has already made some big announcements about what to expect from its 2026-2027 TV cycle. Dick Wolf’s One Chicago, Law & Order: SVU, Happy’s Place, and St. Denis Medical are all guaranteed another year of storytelling. Meanwhile, the network has already pulled the plug on Chris Meloni’s Law & Order: Organized Crime. There’s still a pool of shows waiting for their verdicts, including one that should have been an easy lock — The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins.

NBC Hasn’t Renewed The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins (Despite Its Success)

Created by Robert Carlock and Sam Means for NBC, The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins revolves around Tracy Morgan’s titular character as the former football star gets his life together after a gambling scandal got him permanently banned. Meanwhile, Danielle Radcliffe plays Arthur Tobin, a filmmaker who has been hired to film a documentary about this time in the disgraced athlete’s life. The NBC sitcom marks the Harry Potter star’s first small screen project in the US.

The Rise and Fall of Reggie Dinkins debuted late in the 2025-2026 TV cycle, with NBC being motivated by the continued popularity of the mockumentary format for comedies, which seems to be regaining popularity in the space in recent years. When the Morgan and Radcliffe-led series premiered, it did so with an ultra-rare 100% Rotten Tomatoes score, and what’s more impressive is that after its original 10-episode freshman year, it’s able to maintain that. Unfortunately, NBC has kept it in the renewal/cancellation bubble.

It’s likely that the reason for NBC taking their time to renew The Rise and Fall of Reggie Dinkins stems from its drop in viewership. When it premiered in January, it posted 5.8 million viewers, making it the most-watched comedy telecast of the 2025-2026 broadcast season. The subsequent episodes maintained that popularity, with the show making a mark on streaming. Unfortunately, there was a dip in ratings towards the end of its run, with the finale having a very minimal buzz.

Daniel Radcliffe’s Landmark Project W/ Better Rotten Tomatoes Than All Of Harry Potter Is A Must-Watch For Fans

This year, Daniel Radcliffe makes a historic first in his career with a new project that blows all of the Harry Potter movies on Rotten Tomatoes.

All that being said, between its strong start and impressive critical success, it would be a massive mistake for NBC to not give it at least one more season to see if it can finally establish itself. The Rise and Fall of Reggie Dinkins has only had 10 episodes thus far, so it could help in that endeavor if the network increases that for next year. In the grand scheme of network TV, NBC can also use another comedy in its portfolio, especially at a time when CBS, who dominates the space, is seemingly scaling back on it.
