Another great action-thriller that moved the needle for the streamer, closely replicating The Rip’s success, is Charlize Theron and Taron Egerton’s Apex. The film debuted at No. 1 on Netflix’s global English Film charts and stayed at the top of the Netflix Top 10 for two straight weeks. Since its release, it has accumulated more than 300 million views and counting. Overall, the film directed by Baltasar Kormákur provides a thrilling experience for the audience, proving a good investment for the streamer.
The movie touches upon the themes of grief and survival and brilliantly infuses it with the Australian wilderness and landscape. We follow Sasha (Theron), a grieving mountain climber, who recently lost her husband in a freak mountain climbing accident. As a soul in greif, she seeks an adrenaline rush in the Australian wilderness. Things take a turn when a psychopathic, cannibalistic local starts hunting her, and a cat-and-mouse chase begins. The feature has a 66% Rotten Tomatoes rating from critics, while the audience gave it a 46%.
Now, the feature has managed to pass another milestone. Apex has completed over 30 days on Netflix top 10 charts, as per FlixPatrol. The movie is currently at the fifth spot on global charts, which is dominated by features like Sacha Baron Cohen and Rosamund Pike’s Ladies First, Michael B Jordan’s animated feature Swapped, Netflix Original The Crash, and many more.

Charlize Theron Is Reuniting With ‘Apex’s Director
After delivering the global streaming monster, Theron and director Kormákur are reuniting for another thrilling feature. Titled Six Clean Kills, the new Universal Pictures thriller is based on the unpublished novel by Stan Parish. Kormákur is set to direct and produce the film, while Theron will produce and probably will star. Parish is also on board to adapt the screenplay, though plot details for both the book and movie are currently being kept under wraps. Given the love Apex got, the feature will have all eyes on it when it releases.
