The newest animated series to go viral online has already netted itself millions of views – but is still a hidden gem primed for more people to discover in the big picture of things. Thanks to the popularity of sites like YouTube over the years, there’s more potential than ever for independent shows and series to make an impact without going through the usual channels, opening up a different way for creatives to publish their works.
Indeed, this has led to some major success stories over the years, and even cases wherein series that started out as more independent projects have ended up getting the kind of attention and popularity that even big-budget streaming releases hope to garner. That said, becoming majorly successful on YouTube alone can be tricky to pull off, given the sheer amount of content on the platform.
This makes the current 2.6 million view results of a recent animated series’ debut episode all the more noteworthy, though, with its across-the-board praise also suggesting far greater numbers of people could come to watch and appreciate the show if they were to only know that it existed – and suggesting the stellar animated show could rise to even greater heights with the upcoming releases of future episodes.
Gnome Show’s Pilot Has Already Made The Adult Animated Series Go Viral
Gnome Show, as the name suggests, centers on the story of a world inhabited by charming fantasy gnomes, who are small enough to live in mushroom houses and ride a frog as a horse-sized steed. While this may sound somewhat twee, the charming visuals of the franchise are balanced out by its more adult tone, with violence and swearing being far more commonplace than in most conventional fantasy shows.
The story of Gnome Show also utilizes the contrast between the classic fantasy-esque visuals and more adult comedy leanings, since the series thus far focuses around lead character Willem having to deal with the nearby city’s housing rules and regulations, leaving him down a complex road in order to try and keep his home.
Despite releasing only 11 days ago on YouTube and by an independent creator – which can lead to greater challenges view-wise than a heavily promoted Netflix original show, for example – the pilot for Gnome Show is already at 2.6 million views, which is a major feat for almost any new series. Excitingly, the circumstances around Gnome Show and its creator suggest more success is on the way.
Gnome Show’s Creator Tees The Show Up For Even Stronger Future Success
Gnome Show‘s creator, Cas van de Pol, may ring a bell to some readers, given Cas’ YouTube channel has reached some major levels of success – and currently has over 8 million subscribers – thanks to the range of recap videos the channel has, which provide comedic animated summaries of famous movies and shows.
This previous success appears to place the series in good stead going forward, both since there’s a considerably talented team working on Gnome Show who’ve also played roles in previous releases for the channel, and because the prior videos mean the channel has pre-established long-term success when it comes to making a successful YouTube animated series.
Now Gnome Show‘s pilot has already gone viral with almost 3 million views, its future has some clear potential, especially given the success other series that began on YouTube like The Amazing Digital Circus have enjoyed in recent history. How much success Gnome Show experiences during its full run, though, will only become clear with time.
