Nicolas Cage’s 110-Minute Football Movie Officially Sets Prime Video Release

2026 has been a benchmark year for Nicolas Cage, who starred in one of the best TV shows of the year, Spider-Noir. Cage first played an alternate version of the character in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Across the Spider-Verse, but this marked the first time that he suited up as a Spider-hero in live-action. Cage has mostly been a movie star for the first 25+ years of his career, but he’s getting more into TV roles lately — he’s even reported to star in the next season of True Detective, which is expected to be released on HBO sometime in the next few years. After finding so much success earlier this year with Spider-Noir on Prime Video, Cage is officially returning to the platform soon for a new project that’s been in the works for years.

Cage has been tapped to star alongside Christian Bale and Kathryn Hahn in Madden, which chronicles the life of the great John Madden, and his incredible journey of friendship alongside his best friend Al Davis (played by Bale). Sienna Miller, John Mulaney, and Shane Gillis have also been tapped for key roles in the film, and this morning, Amazon announced that the film will begin streaming on Prime Video on November 18. With a one hour and 50-minute runtime, Prime Video is not releasing Madden in theaters, and the film will instead drop straight to streaming on Prime Video just before Thanksgiving, when the NFL season is in full swing. David O. Russell wrote and directed Madden with help from Cambron Clark on the script. NFL legend Michael Strahan is producing the feature.

What’s Streaming on Prime Video Right Now?

The most popular movie on Prime Video at the time of writing is Masters of the Universe, the fantasy bomb from Amazon that is working to redeem itself at the top of streaming charts. To reach the top spot, Masters of the Universe had to claw past Project Hail Mary, the new Ryan Gosling-starring sci-fi feature that earned over $600 million at the global box office. As for TV shows, Prime Video’s Legally Blonde prequel, Elle, is sitting pretty in pink as one of the top 10 most-watched TV shows in the world right now. However, Off Campus currently occupies the #1 spot on Prime Video at the time of writing.
