Get ready to see Taylor Swift smash another streaming record, everyone, because two new projects are set to land on Disney+ this Friday, December 12.
In addition to The Eras Tour | The Final Show, which documents the last-ever Eras Tour show that took place in Vancouver last year, there’s also Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The End of an Era to look forward.
What you need to know about Taylor Swift’s final Eras show and docuseries
It’s safe to say that The End of an Era is not going to be a warts-and-all exposé of anyone or anything. As you’ll know if you’ve seen Swift’s Folklore documentary (FYI, it’salso on Disney+), big-name pop stars’ expensively produced documentaries don’t do that.
Instead, you can expect a pretty glossy promotional exercise that’ll give you some insight into how the tour was staged and why everybody involved had the best time ever. That’s no bad thing, either: this is a show for the fans, so why not cater towards them?
Nonetheless, I think The Eras Tour |The Final Show is going to be much more interesting for most of us. The previous movie – it’s one of my favorite concert movies ever – was filmed before ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, Swift’s latest LP, was released, and before its songs were added to the tour’s playlist. One of December’s new Disney+ movies includes songs from said album, so it’ll be fascinating to see how they’ve been interpreted for the stage.
As Swift posted on Instagram: “We wanted to remember every moment leading up to the culmination of the most important and intense chapter of our lives, so we allowed filmmakers to capture this tour and all the stories woven throughout it as it wound down, and to film the final show in its entirety.”
As mentioned, Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show comes to one of the world’s best streaming services on December 12 at 12am PT / 3am ET / 8am GMT. Episodes 1 and 2 of The End of an Era will be released on the same day, with two more batches of two episodes arriving on December 19 and 26.
