NYT Strands today (game #609) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #609, are…
- START
- PACE
- FINISH
- RUNNER
- HYDRATION
- TIMEKEEPER
- SPANGRAM: MARATHON
- My rating: Easy
- My score: Perfect
I’ve entered to run in a MARATHON about a dozen times, but I’ve only actually taken part in three. Mainly that was due to injuries, confirming the widely held belief that the hardest thing about a marathon is getting to the start line in one piece, rather than the race itself.
Today’s Strands was a good deal easier – nice of the NYT to put START in the position where many of us start our searches – but it didn’t remind me of dragging my angry legs around the streets of London as I somehow defied the odds and completed 26.2 miles.
The hardest word to find was HYDRATION, a key component to endurance sport that’s often overlooked – although I wouldn’t recommend the beer I had in one race once. That said, it may have been the potato chips I had with it that slowed me down more.
Yesterday’s NYT Strands answers (Saturday, November 1, game #608)
- DELICIOUS
- SCRUMPTIOUS
- FLAVORFUL
- DELECTABLE
- SPANGRAM: GOOD TASTE
