Strands is the NYT’s latest word game after the likes of Wordle, Spelling Bee and Connections – and it’s great fun. It can be difficult, though, so read on for my Strands hints.

With HORSE, SNAKE, and TIGER all simple corner finds this was one of the easiest games for a while.
The spangram, too, was an easy spot thanks to it beginning with a rare letter.
The Chinese Lunar Year starts today, of course, with this year being represented by HORSE.
The zodiac cycles through 12 animals – four of which are too short for this game (Ox, Pig, Dog, and rat). ROOSTER, which also didn’t make the cut, will next appear in 2029, following GOAT (2027) and MONKEY (2028).

What is NYT Strands?
Strands is the NYT’s not-so-new-any-more word game, following Wordle and Connections. It’s now a fully fledged member of the NYT’s games stable that has been running for a year and which can be played on the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.
