Now that we’re well and truly settled into the fall semester, my overwhelming feeling is one of busyness and complexity that I’ve not experienced before. Work life is busy for me and my wife; all three of my children are now in school, and keeping track of finances is only getting more difficult.

I spent time moving my calendar over, importing my travel documents, entering in all my handwritten lists, and more. This took time and commitment, but I’m now so glad I did.

As a result, I now have one centralized place that contains all the important information related to my life and the lives of my loved ones. I get reminders, can interrogate the data, and keep the whole family moving in the same direction. Doing this might seem like the worst thing in the world, but what it actually does is simplify life so I can spend more quality time with my family and friends.
Another benefit of having a centralized hub that also syncs with other family members is that tasks can be easily delegated. By utilizing a chore chart, everyone knows what is expected of them, and family members can receive reminders to help them remember what is required of them. This also has the added benefit of teaching children about responsibilities and expectations.
Reminders to help prioritize what’s important
Some people are better than others at holding in mind what they need to do. Maybe I’ve got too much going on, but I often find that if I put a new to-do item into my head, another one pops out the back, never to be recovered. As a result, I’ve got to-do lists on my phone, on my computer, on the fridge, and various other paper ones around the home.
