‘Outer Banks’ First Footage Shows Where Pogues Are At Start Of Season 5

Four Outer Banks stars, OGs Chase Stokes (John B), Madelyn Cline (Sarah) and Jonathan Daviss (Pope), as well as Carlacia Grant (Cleo), came out on stage at the 2026 Netflix presentation to reflect on the action-adventure YA series’ massive success and tease the upcoming fifth and final season, which is slated for release later this year.

It has been a year and a half since Outer Banks‘ shocking Season 4 Part 2 finale in which JJ (Rudy Pankow), was killed by his biological father Chandler Groff who stole the Pogues’ latest discovery, Blackbeard’s Blue Crown, with his friends vowing revenge.

In TV time, the series is picking up soon after the events in the Season 4 finale. In a short teaser played at the upfront for the room only, which felt like an opening scene for Season 5, the Pogues are seen in custody and attending a hearing in Croatia, judging by the flag and police uniforms shown. (Season 5 filmed some scenes in Dubrovnik, Croatia.) We will find out how the group ended up there as they had set out to follow Chandler to Lisbon, Portugal.

The Pogues were ultimately extradited and separated — reverting to the setup of Season 2, with John B, Sarah, Kiara and Pope sent to the Outer Banks and Cleo to the Bahamas. John B and the gang did not get a warm welcome on Kildare Island, with Pope given an arraignment notice upon arrival after cutting the ankle monitor he had on following a felony charge for attacking a cop to save JJ.

“This season, our characters start out in an interesting place because of last season’s shocking finale, we’ll get to explore that,” Cline said on stage. “And as always, the stakes are high and the relationships between characters are going to be tested. We also tried to bring everyone home and wrap up the series in a way that the fans will hopefully love.”

The four spoke about their experience on the show and saying goodbye.

“I’m sad but I’m also extremely grateful,” Cline said. “We built such a bond, and y’all are literally my best friends. It’s gonna be insane not working with you guys anymore.”

Daviss spoke of discovering the show’s huge popularity when police was called in for crowd control on their first day of production for Season 2 when thousands of fans showed up. And how Kevin Hart came to him at a Lakers game to tell him that he and his daughter watch the show together.

“My favorite part has always been how people see themselves in us, our friendship really keeps their friendship together,” Grant said. “It’s so cool and so loving.”

Stokes wrapped things up. “Thank you to everybody that has tuned in these back six years, you have given us more than we could ever give back,” he said before introducing the Season 5 teaser.
