Panasonic’s Lumix S9 is a lot of full-frame camera for your money, especially over the Black Friday sales

I’m going to level with you. When the Lumix S9 was unveiled last year, I wasn’t a fan, as you can see in my in-depth review. But I’m OK with admitting that I was hasty in my judgment, especially given that Panasonic‘s smallest full-frame camera later received meaty firmware updates that addressed some of my issues, and more so because it’s now a Black Friday bargain.

Available in multiple colorways and lens kits, there are some serious Lumix S9 deals to be had. My top picks are the Lumix S9 (in black) with 28-200mm f/4-7.1 superzoom lens for $1,497 at B&H Photo. In this travel-friendly bundle you also get a 128GB memory card, LowePro ProTactic BP 350 AW II backpack (worth $180) and Peak Design Slide Lite camera strap (worth $55).

Fujifilm-beating color profiles for photo and video, and it’s possible to upload ones made by professional creatives from the Lumix Lab app straight onto the camera. The MP4 Lite is a handy high-quality video format that takes up less space on your memory cards too.

Since the camera’s launch, firmware updates have delivered various handling improvements, such as quickening the sluggish startup time and extending video record times.

Still, no update can change the design which has its limitations in order to achieve such compact proportions and low price; there’s no viewfinder, hotshoe or headphone jack.

The Lumix S9 isn’t for everyone, but it is a superb travel camera for hybrid creators, especially now there are smaller L mount lenses, such as the 18-40mm.
