PlayStation Drops 5 New Free Downloads You Don’t Need PS Plus For

The PlayStation 5 might not have quite as many exclusives as the last console did, but there are a ton of amazing games available on the platform that are well worth your time if you’re willing to give it. For many, PlayStation Plus offers great access to those games, with more on offer the higher up the subscription model you go.

Understandably, though, PS Plus isn’t for everyone, and with the recent price hikes it could easily be out of reach as a monthly cost for many. So if you’re in the market for a new game via the old-fashioned buy and keep method, there are a few new free downloads available that might help you make your decision.

PlayStation Gamers Can Grab These Freebies Now

Over on the PlayStation store, you can find a ton of demos available for new and upcoming games, with five recently being made available to players at large. The first is Marvel Cosmic Invasion, a frenetic beat ‘em up where players have to fight against the deadly Annihilation Wave that threatens the galaxy. It features 15 iconic playable heroes from the franchise and an amazing art style that’s actually well worth a second look if you’re a fan of the genre.

Outbound is a cosy game where you can build your own little home on wheels, building out a campervan which you can then use to explore the game world. It’s a genuinely unique take on the building and exploration genre, and one that is drawing a lot of attention ahead of its full release on May 14.

Nitro Gen Omega is an RPG where you can customize and evolve a huge mech to do devastating damage on the battlefield. It has interesting elements like crew management and turn-based combat, as well as more relaxed simulation features while aboard your home airship.

Rounding out the new free downloads are Tides of Tomorrow, a narrative adventure that puts choice at the center of the equation, and Swat Commander Simulator which, as the name suggests, puts you in the boots of the leader of an elite unit.
