PlayStation Plus Members Thrilled By 13 Free Open-World Games

[

PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium offer subscribers a vast selection of games to choose from, with Premium delivering classic titles from bygone generations, and Extra supplying all the recent AAA titles and PlayStation exclusives. Users can find the likes of Horizon Zero Dawn, Cyberpunk 2077, Ghost of Tsushima, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Red Dead Redemption 2 on there, alongside a bevy of other excellent titles from across all genres.

Naturally, those who are currently subscribed are likely already enjoying PS Plus’ best free RPGs and the like, and thus are plenty immersed and aware of what’s available. However, there are some who perhaps aren’t quite as conscious of what is available on PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium, and thus turn to sites like Reddit for guidance. Fortunately, fellow Redditors are here to help both point out the best available games and lavish them with praise, including 13 huge open-world titles that truly do deserve the affection they get.

A Reddit thread discussing a PlayStation blog post about the top 13 open-world games available on PS Plus is full of users singing the praises of practically every game on the list. It isn’t particularly hard to see why, not least because PS Plus often gets the best open-world RPGs, and many on this list rank among the very greatest, even beyond the platform. The likes of Cyberpunk 2077 and RDR2 get a mention, as do the obvious Ubisoft titles, all of which are undeniably worth playing. The top 13 picks were:

  • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
  • Cyberpunk 2077
  • Death Stranding
  • Ghost of Tsushima
  • Fallout 4
  • Far Cry 6
  • Grand Theft Auto 5
  • Hogwarts Legacy
  • Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered
  • Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
  • Red Dead Redemption 2
  • Star Wars Outlaws

Reddit user Vlodivostonks commented that “Outlaws is one of the best additions to PS Plus in the last year. It’s the kind of game I would have never bought, but I really enjoyed it on playing it as well.” This feels like PS Plus’ intended purpose for many, a service through which users can access older AAA games long after the hype and potential derision dies down. Other users spotlighted more titles from the list that were worth playing, with user missviolets exclaiming, “RDR 2, Outlaws, and Death Stranding are def on my list. AND EVERYONE SHOULD PLAY FALLOUT 4!

Plenty of users also liked to point out the titles they believe are some of the best games on PS Plus and were sadly snubbed from the list. User Quick_Dig8208 simply said “Days Gone,” which garnered a significant amount of upvotes from like-minded fans. Others commented that Skyrim should have made the cut, with user Wu-Kang saying, “Kind of crazy Skyrim didn’t make it.

However, by far the best comments were those of people who had missed out on titles mentioned in the list and were excited to get stuck into them. Several Redditors discussed wanting to try Death Stranding, with user Srapture stating that they “might have to give Death Stranding another go.” Evidently, the list worked, as did sharing it among those perhaps unaware that some of these games were even available on PlayStation Plus, and now these amazing open-world games and likely many more will attention they deserve on the platform.
