Pokémon Officially Unveils New Look At Alternate Forms For Classic ‘Mon

With this year celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise, Nintendo has steadily been making exciting announcements over the past few months and overnight, there was another big reveal to get fans feeling hyped about the future of the series.

It was way back in February 1996 that the first ever Pokémon game, Pocket Monsters Red and Green, was released in Japan after the idea of the franchise itself was first conceived by Satoshi Tajiri in 1990. Developed over a six-year period by Game Freak, the first Pokémon game launched on the Game Boy, and quickly saw the monster-catching series become a cultural phenomenon that still goes strong over three decades later.

Thanks to a hit Pokémon anime series which aired in Japan in 1997, as well as the popularity of Pocket Monsters Red and Green, the franchise made its way to the west in 1998 courtesy of Pokémon Red and Blue and now, 30 years on, the series consists of over 100 official video games spanning across nine, almost ten, generations.

As such, the fans of Pokémon rival the millions, with each having their favorite video game entry and, of course, a favorite Pokémon who has become something of a constant companion to them over the years and, whilst their designs may have been updated over the years, they still retain their core look.

Now, to celebrate 30 years, Pokémon has officially unveiled logos for Pokémon with alternate forms that previously didn’t have their own logo. Over on the official website, you can now find alternative logos for what seems to be every single Pokémon ever created. This includes the likes of Bulbasaur, Ivy, Venusaur leading the charge, as well as Squirtle, Charmander, and so on and so forth, including every Pokémon and their various evolutions.

Featuring the giant number ’30’ with our beloved Pokémon bursting out of the font, the underneath reads “Pokémon: Since 1996”, truly hammering home how long these adorable creatures, and the franchise as a whole, has been in our lives.

Over on Twitter/X, user Centro LEAKS shared the news of the newly unveiled logos, and fans were quick to share their thoughts on yet another 30th anniversary celebration.

“Giving alternate forms their own logos is a neat bit of archival cleanup for the 30th anniversary,” one comment read. Another said, “Still no Megas, but if they’re updating now for other alternate forms, then maybe there’s hope for them lol.”

On top of the anniversary celebrations, Nintendo also revealed that Pokémon’s Gen 10 will be kicking off some time in 2027 with the launch of Pokémon Winds and Waves, so, the future continues to look bright for fans of the ever-growing franchise.
