Pokémon Winds & Waves Leak Confirms Brand-New Gen 10 Monster

Announced back in February and set to launch some time in 2027, Pokémon Winds & Waves is not only set to be the next mainline Pokémon entry, but it will also mark the start of Gen 10 of the beloved Nintendo franchise. Set in a tropical archipelago dotted with multiple islands and underwater areas, not much is yet known about the highly ambitious project, but players can expect to meet their starter Pokémon and embark on Pokémon’s biggest installment yet.

Now, according to a recent rumor, Pokémon Winds & Waves will introduce a brand-new Gen 10 critter, making it the first non-starter Pokémon to be unveiled.

Pokémon Gen 10’s First Non-Starter Monster Has Leaked

Courtesy of leaker BallGuy over on Twitter, a brand-new Pokémon is expected to make its debut in 2027’s Pokémon Winds & Waves. With the leaker claiming that the next installment will focus on a new Water and Flying-type Pokémon, there will reportedly be a fish and bird hybrid, and you can get a sneak peek at it here. Apparently, this ‘mon will be basic and widespread throughout the game, with players expected to spot them flying around the various islands in the archipelago. This would be the equivalent of Pidgey being Kanto’s version of a basic and widespread ‘mon.

Although it is worth taking this leak with a pinch of salt, BallGuy has explained that the image shared is not what the Pokémon will look like in the final version, but is instead a scrapped version of a design that never made it to Pokémon Gold and Silver, so do with that information what you will.

Pokémon Winds & Waves Officially Drops Next Year

As mentioned, Pokémon Winds & Waves is set to drop some time in 2027, meaning we could possibly have just a few months to wait until we finally get to experience the next Generation of Pokémon in what is expected to be Nintendo’s most ambitious project yet. Up until now, the game’s potential Pokédex size has left fans feeling divided, but starter evolutions have been praised, with many calling them “peak”. Other than that, information remains scarce about Pokémon Winds & Waves, but that just means that the upcoming months are expected to be jam-packed with information, especially considering that this year celebrates the franchise’s 30th anniversary.
