Prime Video has officially revealed the first teaser for Vought Rising — and The Boys spin-off already looks far more intriguing than its parent show’s divisive final season.
The prequel series, which will come out sometime in 2027 and be fronted by Jensen Ackles (The Boys, Supernatural), will explore the origins of Vought International’s founding and creation of Compound V, aka the Supe-creating serum. And, based on the Amazon TV Originals inaugural trailer, Vought Rising will be as much of a noir thriller as it is a satirical superhero show.
Alright, there’s not much we can actually glean from this sizzle reel-style trailer. However, there are some important details we already know about the forthcoming show, including who’ll star opposite Ackles, where it sits in relation to its parent show on The Boys timeline, and much more. Speaking of which…
Who’s joining Jensen Ackles as part of Vought Rising’s cast?
Ackles, who returns as fan-favorite The Boys character Soldier Boy, won’t be the only familiar face we see in this offshoot.
Indeed, Aya Cash, who played Clara Vought/Stormfront in The Boys seasons 2 and 3, is back for more R-rated superhuman action and drama. At this point on The Boys timeline (more on this shortly), though, her individual superhero alias is Liberty, so don’t expect to hear her Stormfront pseudonym used here. Mason Dye, who played Bombsight in The Boys season 5 episode 6, is also part of the cast.
As for the rest of the Prime Video show’s roster, Elizabeth Posey (Heels, Euphoria) and Wil Hochman (Blue Bloods) are on board as two more of Vought’s first generation of Supes. Posey will portray Private Angel, while Hochman is set to portray Torpedo.
Rounding out its ensemble in undisclosed roles are KiKi Layne (The Old Guard 2), Jorden Myrie (Bridgerton, Sherwood), Nicolo Pasetti (Industry), Ricky Staffieri (The Bear), and Brian J. Smith (Sense8, Stargate).
What is Vought Rising about?

Here’s the official logline for Vought Rising: “Set in the 1950s, the prequel series explores the twisted origins of Vought International.”
That’s… really not much to go on, is it? Nonetheless, as I outlined earlier in this article, it’ll show how Vought came to be in the wake of World War II, and how Compound V and the first Supes were created. Throw in a vast conspiracy that Soldier Boy and Liberty are likely to be at the heart of, and Vought Rising has all of the ingredients to be another hit for Prime Video, aka one of the world’s best streaming services.
Of course, what Vought Rising‘s very brief story synopsis doesn’t tell us if its narrative will take place across multiple time periods.
Indeed, with Soldier Boy surviving — albeit by way of a cryochamber — to the end of The Boys, it’s possible that we could see him reawakened in the present as part of Vought Rising’s overarching story. Speaking to Deadline recently, franchise overlord Eric Kripke replied “no comment” when asked if this prequel would take place in the past and present, which is ordinarily code for “yes”. Don’t be surprised, then, if The Boys‘ latest spin-off reunites us with Soldier Boy in modern-day America as well as the ’50s.
