Prime Video Officially Confirms Man-Spider’s Design For Spider-Man’s New Appearance

[

Prime Video’s new Spider-Man series features an exciting version of Man-Spider, with the Marvel villain debuting an excellent design and finally playing a key role in a live-action Spider-Man release. Man-spider is not one of Spider-Man’s biggest villains, nor has he shown up in any major adaptations thus far. That kind of role has been filled by Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Electro, Mysterio, and others.

Still, for anyone who enjoys Man-Spider, 2026 is the perfect year for you. While we don’t yet know if he will show up in the MCU’s upcoming releases, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day appears to be using some elements from the villain. Recently, Holland spoke to Empire about the new Spider-Man movie. He explained the concept of “Spider-Puberty,” with Peter undergoing changes.

As the first Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer teased, Peter might be undergoing some physical changes in the film, which could see the MCU’s version of Man-Spider rise. At the very least, it seems like he will develop organic webbing. On the last topic, another Spider-Man with that power recently debuted, and his first appearance includes an actual version of Man-Spider.

Prime Video’s Spider-Noir was released on May 27, with several villains from Marvel Comics being reimagined for the standalone Spider-Man series. Cat Hardy, Silvermane, and Sandman are the Spider-Man villains and anti-heroes from the comics with the biggest roles. However, Man-Spider is also crucial to the ordeal.

Prime Video Has Revealed What Spider-Noir’s Man-Spider Looks Like

Man-Spider in Spider-Noir

Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for Spider-Noir season 1.Man-Spider appears in Spider-Noir season 1, episode 5, “Betrayal.” The live-action Spider-Man series uses flashbacks to World War I to explore how Ben Reilly got his powers. In them, it is revealed that prisoners of war had been experimented on with animals to see if they could develop abilities connected to them. As Ben tried to help one of them, he came face to face with none other than Spider-Noir‘s version of Man-Spider. Instead of being bitten by a radioactive spider, as happens to Peter Parker and others, Cage’s Ben Reilly gets bitten by Man-Spider, giving him powers.

From his waist up, Man-Spider looks more human than a monster. However, half of his face has been turned into that of a spider, with multiple eyes and brownish skin. As for the character’s lower half, the Spider-Noir version of Marvel’s Man-Spider looks like something straight out of a body horror movie. Multiple arms and a circular body like spiders have. Spider-Noir‘s take on the Spider-Man villain is fitting for what this darker, street-level standalone Marvel universe focuses on.

How Spider-Noir’s Man-Spider Compares To Other Versions Of The Marvel Villain?

In Marvel Comics, Man-Spider’s design is more monstrous and less realistic. It makes sense, as comics are a different medium, and thus go for more fantastical elements than a grounded, detective-focused series like Spider-Noir. In the comics, Man-Spider has multiple arms, wears a ripped Spider-Man costume, and has a full-on spider face with prominent fangs. Spider-Noir‘s version of the character never got that far in his transformation, still retaining many human characteristics, which led to Ben being surprised by him and letting his guard down enough to be bitten by the live-action Man-Spider.

That comic book-accurate version of Man-Spider might not be in Spider-Noir, but fans can find it in animation. The 1990s Spider-Man: The Animated Series used the character in all his glory. Man-Spider dons a Spider-Man suit and possesses six arms. Different from the Spider-Noir version of the character, the animated series saw Peter Parker himself transform into the monster, making for an even more impactful storyline. All in all, the way Man-Spider was handled in Spider-Noir was excellent, as he looked as twisted as he should and was crucial to this Spider-Man‘s origin story.
