Hindalco Q3 expectations
Hindalco is likely to report robust growth in its profitability and revenues during the third quarter, driven by strong India performance even though Novelis struggled.Profit for the October-December 2024 quarter is likely to jump 62% year-on-year (YoY), according to an average estimate of three brokerages. Revenues in the same period are seen increasing 11% YoY, led by higher Aluminium and alumina prices.EBITDA is likely to improve 28% YoY due to higher metal prices along with lower power costs in India. On a QoQ basis, both EBITDA and
margins are likely to decline due to lower EBITDA at Novelis on account of lower scrap spreads.Aluminium including Utkal alumina EBITDA is expected to increase by 24% QoQ to Rs 4790 crore supported by higher aluminium prices and alumina prices along with marginal higher volume.”Copper EBITDA, meanwhile, to be lower at Rs 650 crore. Novelis’s adjusted EBITDA/t to drop sharply by 16% QoQ to Rs 410 due to lower scrap spread amid tight scrap availability,” Nuvama said.
The Switzerland plant flooding in the previous quarter will have a minor impact in Q3FY25. The company has restarted the operations.
“We estimate India EBITDA (standalone + Utkal) at Rs 5070 crore with aluminum EBITDA (including Utkal) of Rs 4310 crore, led primarily by higher prices and Copper EBITDA of Rs 760 crore, led by resilient TcRcs and high sequential base. We estimate Novelis’ EBITDA of $391 million with an EBITDA/ton of $425 factoring in higher scrap prices,” Kotak Equities said.
