Red Dead Redemption 2 60fps PS5 Gameplay Stuns Gamers

[

Red Dead Redemption 2 came out all the way back in 2018, but fans continue to return in their droves to what is still one of the greatest games of all time. The arrival of the game on PC brought with it all kinds of technological advancements that players have been able to take advantage of, but console gamers have been left somewhat out in the cold.

That’s why calls for a major update to the game that unlocks 60 FPS on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X have been growing, but Rockstar remains entirely locked in on getting GTA VI into the hands of the player base as soon as possible. While we wait, it turns out it is possible to get it running on consoles at 60FPS, via some technical wizardry, and it’s easy to see why fans are desperate for Rockstar to get the job done themselves.

Red Dead Redemption 2 At 60fps On PS5 Is Possible

Over on the Digital Foundry YouTube channel, they have been showcasing modifications that allow players to see Red Dead Redemption 2 running at 60 FPS on the PS5. Developed by Illusion and only able to be run on exploitable consoles (firmware 4.50 max), it’s safe to say it looks great, and fans are more desperate than ever for the developer to release an official version.

“Come on rockstar. Give us this performance patch to hold us over until GTA VI,” one comment said.

“I’m happy you’re putting this content out there DF! Hopefully, it’ll reach Rockstar and they’ll do something about it. Highly doubt it though. They’re going to want to release a PS5 version at full price,” another added.

“I love that you guys are really driving home how easily this can be done. Keep up the good fight, hopefully this will shame Rockstar into finally getting off their buts to do this. There is no reason RDR 2 has to stay locked at 30fps and now this will finally shut up those that claim the PS5 can’t handle this game at 60fps,” a third said.

Not Every PS5 Owner Will Want To Do This

As mentioned earlier, getting a PS5 into a condition to do this is actually quite a tricky process that requires a fair amount of technical knowledge, so we really would advise against it unless you know what you’re doing. In any case, Red Dead Redemption 2 will almost certainly get another release at some point, so maybe just sit tight until then and go all in on GTA VI when that drops.
