There have already been plenty of big gaming releases in 2026, including 007 First Light, the new James Bond game starring Patrick Gibson as the up-and-coming MI6 agent. Following 007 First Light were a few big releases in July, including Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, which has already sold over three million copies during its first few weeks. The PS5 ports of Black Ops and Black Ops II launched on the same day as the new Assassin’s Creed game, and fans around the world have been returning to the fan-favorite games, which have picked up over five million players since launch. The biggest game coming in the second half of the year is GTA 6, the next game from Rockstar launching two months after Wolverine, the new release from Insomniac Games.
It’s not a stretch to call Grand Theft Auto 6 the biggest gaming launch in history, especially after the success of its last game, Red Dead Redemption 2. Although it lost the Game of the Year award to God of War, Red Dead Redemption 2 has stood the test of time as one of the most beloved video games ever made. One of the biggest drawbacks of Red Dead Redemption 2 is that players weren’t allowed to visit the areas of the first game, like Mexico and New Austin, until getting to the epilogue and playing as John Marston.
Thankfully, a new Nexus Mod is righting this wrong thanks to the launch of Nuevo Paraiso: The Forgotten Frontier, a new expansion set in Mexico centered around Sadie Adler. The new release will be a prequel set before Sadie departs for South America. Development on the new mod is in full swing, and the latest update shared from the team confirmed that the goal of the new release is for players to “understand why the Revolution began, and how that conflict gives meaning to the events of Red Dead Redemption 1.”

Is Rockstar Making ‘Red Dead Redemption 3’?
Rockstar has not confirmed what the next game for the studio will be after the launch of GTA 6. The studio has spent over 10 years and $1 billion making the next Grand Theft Auto game, which will be released on next-gen consoles around the world on November 19. It’s heavily speculated that Rockstar will begin work on another Red Dead Redemption game, but it’s also possible that the studio will return to another franchise, like LA Noire. Fans have been requesting another Noire detective game since the launch of the first in 2011.
