Rode’s free update unleashes wireless ‘broadcast-quality audio’ for iPhone — here’s how it works

    • Rode announces a firmware update for Wireless Go (Gen 3) and Wireless Pro
    • It adds a Direct Connect feature
    • The update is available for free, starting today

If you own a Rode Wireless Go (Gen 3) or Wireless Pro microphone and have been eyeing the newer, cheaper Wireless Micro‘s feature list with envy, here’s some good news: the company has just released an update that brings one of the Micro’s handiest features to the Go and the Pro – and it won’t cost you a dime.

The free firmware update allows the Wireless Go (Gen 3) and Wireless Pro to use Direct Connect, meaning their transmitters can pair directly with Apple iPhones and iPads via Bluetooth. That means that users running the iOS Rode Capture app can now record what Rode describes as “broadcast-quality audio” on their Apple mobile devices without the need to use a receiver or cable.
