Sadie Sink Says Marvel Kept Her Spider-Man: Brand New Day Character a Secret From Her Until Filming Started

[

Stranger Things Star Sadie Sink admitted that the secret identity of her as-yet unrevealed character in Spider-Man: Brand New Day was so heavily guarded, she had no idea what the role was and didn’t even get a glimpse of the script before landing in London to film the Marvel flick.

Sink divulged this information in an interview with Nylon, where she revealed how she’s managed to keep her character under wraps thus far… and turns out, it’s not that hard.

“You just don’t share the secret, it’s not that hard,” she told the outlet.

“I knew that Marvel was a big deal and had a big brand, especially Spider-Man,” she said of the reaction to news of her casting. “I know there’s a huge fan base, but it feels really big. I think these blockbuster movies are a whole different beast.”

Despite the scale of the project, Sink says she found a good friend and coworker in Tom Holland on set, who’s more than familiar with what it’s like keeping secrets from fans.

“It was interesting stepping into that space and being a little bit of an outsider in that way, but he could not have been more welcoming, and just the whole crew in general. He was just so relaxed and open, and I felt very at ease,” she said.

We’re nearly a month out from Spider-Man: Brand New Day opening in theaters, and Sink’s character still hasn’t been officially unveiled. However, fans are becoming increasingly convinced that she’s playing Jean Grey, with trailers heavily alluding to her having psychic powers, showing her taking over the minds of people and even other heroes.

Thus far, it appears she’s been set up as the villain of the movie, but we won’t know for certain until Marvel finally decides to pull back the curtain.
