EXCLUSIVE: Devon Hammonds is taking a step up after Sony Pictures Television restructured one of its unscripted divisions.
The studio promoted Hammonds to Head of Nonfiction. This comes after Eli Holzman, who was President of Sony Pictures Television, Nonfiction and Co-President Aaron Saidman exited the company earlier this year, as revealed by Deadline.
Following the departure of the IPC founders, the studio changed the reporting structure of its nonfiction division. The unit previously reported to Sony Pictures Television Chairman Keith LeGoy but has been subsequently folded within Sony Pictures Television Studios, which is run by President Katherine Pope.
Hammonds will report to Pope.
She was previously EVP, Business Development & Strategy for Sony Pictures Television – Nonfiction, where she led deal structures, strategic partnerships, and international distribution models, while overseeing its joint ventures and production partners.
Hammonds joined Industrial Media in 2019 as SVP, Development & Current Programming – East Coast before it was acquired by Sony in 2022. Before Industrial Media, she spent eight years at A&E as its VP, Development and Programming, where she worked on series including Leah Remini: Scientology & the Aftermath, Kids Behind Bars: Life or Parole, Wahlburgers, and Nightwatch.
It marks the latest change for Sony’s nonfiction group – the company has a separate game shows division, led by Suzanne Prete that produces Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! – after it acquired Vanderpump Rules and The Valley producer 32 Flavors last month, as revealed by Deadline.
