South Park season 27 episode 6 is delayed until October 15 due to a change in the show’s release schedule.
If you’ve watched the first five episodes, this shouldn’t be too much of a surprise. Indeed, new episodes are now set to drop every two weeks, so we better get used to these bi-weekly releases.
What’s become a permanent release schedule change started out as a decision that felt a lot more temporary, with no reason initially given for why episodes 1 and 2 were both delayed. The two-week gaps were eventually explained to Deadline, with a source stating: “What they’re doing means this year’s episodes need more time than usual to put together, to finish.
“So much happens right now in just one day with Trump. No one’s going to sacrifice getting it right, even if we have to push getting it to air, and if that makes the season longer, so be it.”
It’s a more than fair reason, even if we are kept waiting for longer. After the death of Charlie Kirk, South Park season 27 episode 5 made a noticeable pivot by parodying Israel’s government instead of taking on US politics. While it was a necessary move (though according to Kirk’s producer, he was a huge fan of his portrayal), we need our scheduled South Park breaks more than ever, and the direction for new episodes is clear.

I can’t even begin to get my head around what has happened in the world over the last few weeks, and I’m pretty sure South Park‘s creators are feeling the same way. Tensions are high, words and actions mean everything, and now is not the same to be churning out global content that could have a concerning impact.
Paramount has also got its brand to protect and, after initial reports that South Park was going to be pulled from its back catalog for good, the company is bound to be more vigilant than ever. This, my friends, is where time is on our side.
Collectively, we need to digest, decompress and regroup. We need to be there for ourselves and each other. South Park is easily one of the best social and political parodies around, but there is such a thing as watching and making the show too soon.
The more time we have between each episode, the better, in my opinion. Whether this means there will be fewer complaints from whoever is portrayed, however, is another matter. But at least – fingers crossed – nothing will be done in haste.
I think we’re likely to see more emphasis on influential figures outside of the core US government and MAGA movement in South Park season 27 episode 6 and beyond, which includes Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (we’ve already seen this in episode 5).
Trump likely won’t be going anywhere, though, and that’s bad news for Satan, who’s been locked up in his bedroom. Some things never change, I suppose, but at least the series’ Comedy Central and Paramount+ release schedules have.
