Spider-Man: Brand New Day Box Office Grosses Nearly $1 Billion In A Single Weekend

[

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is already within a web’s breadth of being a billion-dollar hit.

2026’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the first to center on the titular superhero since 2021’s No Way Home. That previous movie grossed $1.921 billion, becoming the eighth highest-grossing movie of all time (not adjusted for inflation) and the highest-grossing non-Avengers MCU movie. The new movie follows directly from that movie’s story, seeing Peter Parker (Tom Holland) struggling to find his place in a world that has forgotten him. The movie also stars Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal as Punisher, Florence Pugh as Yelena, and Mark Ruffalo as Hulk.

Per TheWrap, as of Saturday morning, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is projected to conclude its opening weekend by hitting a cumulative gross of $925 million worldwide, comprising its $325 million domestic debut (which is the second-biggest in history, behind Avengers: Endgame) and an additional $600 million from international markets. The movie, which opened mid-week in some overseas territories (including China, where it began playing on Wednesday), has managed to draw close to the billion-dollar global milestone long before the end of its first full week in theaters.

This total means that, in spite of being in theaters for such a short time, by Sunday, it will have already outgrossed the worldwide hauls of the majority of 2026 releases. These projections see it debuting directly in the Top 5, landing at No. 4 with a haul that surpasses the all-time grosses of hit titles including The Devil Wears Prada 2 ($690.9 million), Project Hail Mary ($684.2 million), Obsession ($460.7 million), and Backrooms ($390 million).

This enormous total also sees 2026’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day earning the second-biggest global debut of all time, behind only its MCU predecessor Avengers: Endgame ($1.224 billion). The previous movie in that position was 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, which had a considerably lower global debut of $640.5 million, which is nearly half of what Endgame earned. Brand New Day‘s landmark status is proven by the fact that there have so far been only seven movies to earn a global debut higher than $500 million. Below, see a breakdown of the box office performance of those titles:

Title

Total Box Office

Avengers: Endgame (2019)

$1.224 billion

$2.799 billion

Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

The Fate of the Furious (2017)

$1.236 billion

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

$2.071 billion

Jurassic World (2015)

$1.671 billion

Although Spider-Man: Brand New Day reviews have earned the movie a stellar 90% score on Rotten Tomatoes, it doesn’t boast the same strengths as Avengers: Endgame, which was a crossover effort led by superheroes from multiple different hit subfranchises. However, if it manages to maintain a similar trajectory off the strength of its stellar audience reception (which includes an A CinemaScore and 98% on the Rotten Tomatoes Popcornmeter), it could end up grossing $2.115 billion worldwide by the end of its run.

If it manages to reach that total, Spider-Man: Brand New Day would cement itself as one of the highest-grossing movies ever (not adjusted for inflation), landing at No. 6 on the all-time chart behind only Titanic, Ne Zha 2, Avatar: The Way of Water, Avengers: Endgame, and Avatar.

Even if it doesn’t ultimately hit that dizzying height, the movie is well on its way toward becoming a billion-dollar success and has already proven itself to be an enormously profitable venture. The reported budget of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day is just $225 million. While movies often need to earn back two and a half times their price tags, potentially placing its estimated break-even point as high as a whopping $562.5 million, it has taken mere days to rocket past that benchmark, meaning that it is most likely already in the black and then some.
