Star Wars’ New 10/10 Sci-Fi Fantasy Spin-Off Is Officially Taking Over the World

[

About a week ago, a new space fantasy series landed in its entirety on Disney+, where it quickly became a global favorite and continues to garner positive attention. This comes as no surprise given that it earned instant critical acclaim upon its debut. On Rotten Tomatoes, the series currently holds an impressive 90% critics’ rating based on 21 reviews. Many of these critics have praised the stunning visuals and unique premise, sentiments that audiences also share, as evidenced by its solid 85% Popcornmeter score.

As part of the Star Wars franchise, Star Wars: Visions Presents is an anthology collection created for Disney+ that has so far enjoyed a successful start thanks to its first entry. The series, a spin-off from Star Wars: Visions, expands the beloved galaxy far, far away through a collection of standalone stories from different creatives, giving it the freedom to venture beyond the franchise’s traditional storytelling. It premiered with its first installment, The Ninth Jedi, at the Anime Expo on July 1, 2026, before all eight episodes arrived on Disney+ and Hulu on August 5.

Directed by Kenji Kamiyama and written by Mitsuyasu Sakai, Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi is one of the most refreshing entries in the franchise to date. It’s impossible not to feel captivated by every episode of the sci-fi adventure series, and viewers seem to feel the same way as they continue to flock to it. This enthusiasm has contributed to the series’ growing popularity on Disney+ both in the U.S. and internationally. On the streamer’s global charts, the series has consistently remained among the top 10 shows over the past week, with today’s rankings placing it in fifth, right between Bluey Compilations and High Potential.

Grey Jedi

Disciplined, compassionate, and deeply attuned to the living Force, you have walked the path long enough to understand its demands — and accept them. You lead not through authority alone, but through example. You have felt the pull of the dark side and chosen otherwise, every time. That is not certainty. That is courage.

You are earnest, powerful, and brimming with potential — and you know it, which is both your greatest asset and your most dangerous flaw. You act before you think, trust your gut over your training, and sometimes confuse impatience for bravery. The Masters see something in you, though. The question isn’t whether you have what it takes — it’s whether you’ll be patient enough to find out.

You are not simply dangerous — you are certain, and that is worse. You have decided what the galaxy needs, and you have decided you are the one to deliver it. Your power is genuine and formidable, earned through sacrifice that would have broken lesser beings. But examine your victories carefully. Every Sith believed their cause was righteous. The dark side’s cruelest trick is that it agrees with you.

You were forged in fire and reshaped by those who found you at your lowest. You serve, because service gave you structure when you had none. Your allegiance is not to an ideology — it is to survival and to the master who gave you purpose. But there is something buried beneath the conditioning. The Jedi you hunt? You recognize them. Because you remember what it felt like before the choice was taken from you.

You have looked at the Jedi Code and the Sith Code and found both of them incomplete. You walk the line not out of indecision but out of conviction — you genuinely believe both extremes miss something essential. The Jedi don’t fully trust you. The Sith think you’re wasting your potential. They’re both partially right. But so are you.

Is ‘Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi’ Worth Watching?

The Ninth Jedi, which originated as an episode in Star Wars: Visions Volume 1 before continuing with Volume 3’s “The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope”, is set in a distant future long after the fall of the Sith and the disappearance of the Jedi Order. The story follows Lah Kara, a spirited teenage girl who lives with her father, a sabersmith, on the frozen world of Hy Izlan. Gifted with a natural talent for lightsaber combat, Kara begins training in the Force at a young age, though she struggles to believe in her own abilities. When her father is later captured by Jedi Hunters, Kara turns to the mysterious Margrave Juro for help, only to find herself caught in a deadly Sith ambush.
