Superman Officially Returns This Summer With My Adventures With Superman Season 3

[

Superman is returning in a new DC project long before Man of Tomorrow, and it’s not even part of the DCU. David Corenswet’s Superman is already a staple of James Gunn’s DCU. Superman 2025 was the DCU’s first live-action film, it got the entire franchise off to a good start by drawing in great reviews and over $600 million at the box office, and Superman himself is now the face of the franchise.

The future of the DCU is also built around Superman. The next DCU film, Supergirl, follows Kal-El’s cousin Kara. After that, Superman’s next leading role will be in Man of Tomorrow in 2027, and only the horror film Clayface will debut before it. Given the importance James Gunn has placed on the character, the near-universal acclaim for Superman 2025, and the overall popularity of the character, many people are eagerly awaiting Superman’s next appearance in a DC project.

While fans of Superman do have quite a bit to look forward to in the DCU, they’ll have to wait until 2027 to see Corenswet’s Superman for more than a few moments. Luckily, a different version of Superman is returning in just a matter of months thanks to My Adventures with Superman. The animated series isn’t part of the DCU and isn’t live-action, but it should still be on every Superman fan’s radar.

My Adventures With Superman Season 3 Will Bring Clark Kent Back Before Man Of Tomorrow

While the animated series My Adventures with Superman doesn’t feature the same version of the character as the DCU, it will be the first DC project to put Superman in the spotlight since Superman 2025. My Adventures with Superman season 3 is set to premiere on Adult Swim on June 13, and episodes will be available to stream on HBO Max the next day, while Man of Tomorrow won’t arrive in theaters until July 9, 2027.

Again, the Clark Kent in My Adventures with Superman isn’t the same as David Corenswet’s, but there’s still plenty of reason to look forward to season 3. Jack Quaid (The Boys, Novocaine), who voices Superman in the show, is often considered one of the best Superman voice actors ever, especially because of the kindness and sincerity he injects into the role. My Adventures with Superman season 3 will also adapt one of the best Superman stories from the comics, namely the “Reign of the Supermen” arc.

There’s also reason to be more excited about My Adventures with Superman season 3 than Man of Tomorrow. So far, Man of Tomorrow has been advertised as a team-up between Superman and Lex Luthor, who work together to take down Brainiac. While that’s certainly an exciting premise, My Adventures with Superman is more centered around Superman specifically. Season 3’s decision to adapt “Reign of the Supermen” also puts the focus squarely on Clark as he deals with imposters that have his same set of powers.

Yet another feature My Adventures with Superman has that Man of Tomorrow doesn’t is Superboy. As part of the “Reign of the Supermen” arc, My Adventures with Superman season 3 is introducing Superboy. He’s joining Supergirl, who was introduced in the second season, meaning My Adventures with Superman features more of the characters directly related to Superman than the DCU does so far.

David Corenswet’s Superman Will Have A Cameo In Supergirl

My Adventures with Superman season 3 will be the first DC project to focus on Clark Kent specifically since Superman 2025, but David Corenswet will still have a chance to reprise his role shortly after Jack Quaid does. Corenswet’s Superman is set to appear in some capacity in Supergirl, which premieres on June 26. The trailer for Supergirl included a video message from Superman, which saw him encouraging her to “find her people.”

It’s not currently clear how big of a role Superman will play in Supergirl, but it’s safe to assume it will be closer to a cameo appearance. Supergirl is adapting a famous comic titled “Woman of Tomorrow,” and that arc had Kara dealing with problems entirely on her own. Supergirl has already made some changes to the story of “Woman of Tomorrow,” but none of them have been as large as inserting Superman into the mix.

HBO Max’s Hit Superman Series Is “Coming Out” For Season 3 Ahead Of James Gunn’s Own Man Of Steel Sequel

My Adventures with Superman star Jack Quaid confirms season 3 is in post-production, hinting at a release date sometime in late 2026 or early 2027.

Additionally, “Woman of Tomorrow” takes place exclusively on alien planets in the far reaches of the galaxy, while Superman is dedicated to protecting Earth. It is possible that Kara will return to Earth at the end of Supergirl, but even then, Corenswet’s Superman would only appear for a few moments, just as Kara only had a cameo appearance in Superman.

So, for fans of the character who want to see Superman for more than a few moments in someone else’s story, My Adventures with Superman season 3 is still the biggest event of 2026 so far. Not only is it bringing Superman back for his own story over a year before Man of Tomorrow, it’s also adapting a classic comic arc and adding its own new twists to the story. If you like Superman, you’re going to want to watch My Adventures with Superman season 3.
