The summer season has landed a major win for Apple TV.
Multiple original TV shows on Apple TV have become some of the most beloved series of all time right now in the current landscape. As August progresses, a major property has finally made its return after three years.
Following its season 3 finale, Ted Lasso season 4 premiered on August 5 with episode 1, “Home,” and viewers are making their voices heard about the next story. After its launch on Apple TV, the audience score has debuted at 78% on Rotten Tomatoes.
As of writing, Ted Lasso season 4 is currently tied for the lowest-rated season for the Apple TV sports dramedy, with season 3 sitting at 78% too. However, the present % is still subject to change, as it could get higher or lower as more viewers register their ratings on Rotten Tomatoes.
In comparison, the new season is doing far better than Ted Lasso season 3 on the critic side. While the 2023 episodes are holding 78% for their audience score on the review-aggregation platform, its Rotten Tomatoes score is at 81% , as season 4 is a different story.

So far, the Jason Sudeikis-starring TV series is also doing better with members of the press, as the brand new season has 89% on Rotten Tomatoes. Whether that rating will go up or down remains to be seen, as there are nine episodes left to air, and more reviews are still being submitted.
It’s clear in more ways than one that the world has certainly missed the sports phenomenon, with the latest season taking the titular character back to Richmond, but with a new direction. This time, Ted is coaching a second-division women’s football team, the Lady Greyhounds.
In ScreenRant’s Ted Lasso season 4 review, Kara Hedash gave the Apple TV show’s latest season an 8/10, saying how “it felt like Apple TV was sending a message that Ted Lasso couldn’t go on in any form without Sudeikis. That translates into season 4, with Rebecca, Keeley, and Higgins immediately turning to Ted to take on the head coaching gig for the Lady Greyhounds.” After having seen the first five episodes that were previewed to the press, Hedash adds how “the newest chapter of the award-winning comedy has already shown a good balance between familiar elements and new aspects, especially when it comes to the cast.”
Time will tell if Apple TV will go forward with Ted Lasso season 5, as no decision has officially been made on the show’s future. However, with the early critical success, it would be hard to imagine the award-winning property not continuing, especially after the long journey they took to get season 4 made.
New episodes of Ted Lasso season 4 drop on Wednesdays on Apple TV.
