Tell Me Lies season 3 will finally arrive on January 13th 2026, streaming on Hulu in the US and Disney Plus internationally. After a two-year wait, viewers will finally find themselves thrown back into the deep end of Lucy and Stephen’s unbearably toxic relationship in both their college and present-day timelines.
Based on the novel of the same name by Carola Lovering, two seasons have seen shocking twists and an even more shocking finale that’s absolutely covered in red flags. Cheating, lying, and manipulation are just some of the traits that both Lucy and Stephen possess – all of which don’t just affect them, but their college friends, too. It’s tumultuous to say the least.
So, where will we pick up from in season 3? Well, here’s everything we know so far including release date, confirmed cast, plot synopsis, and more.
Full spoilers follow for Tell Me Lies season 1 & 2. Plus, potential spoilers for season 3.
Tell Me Lies season 3 release date
Big news! Tell Me Lies season 3 will premiere on January 13th 2026 with the first two episodes dropping on Hulu in the US and Disney Plus internationally. A further six episodes will stream weekly until the finale on February 24.
After the show’s official season 3 renewal in December 2024, the cast and crew jumped into production in May 2025 and wrapped in October. So, thankfully that means we haven’t had to wait too long for a new season. And now, it’s almost here.
Tell Me Lies season 3 trailer: is there one?
There’s no Tell Me Lies season 3 trailer available to watch just yet, but with its impending release, it could come any day now.
What we do have to keep us going is first look images littered around this hub. I’ll be sure to update here with the trailer as soon as it drops.
Tell Me Lies season 3 confirmed cast
It wouldn’t be Tell Me Lies season 3 without the main cast returning, but there’s also two new cast members confirmed to be joining the show:
- Grace Van Patten as Lucy Albright
- Jackson White as Stephen DeMarco
- Catherine Missal as Bree
- Spencer House as Wrigley
- Sonia Mena as Pippa
- Branden Cook as Evan
- Alicia Crowder as Diana
- Tom Ellis as Oliver
- Natalee Linez as Lydia
- Iris Apatow as Amanda
- Costa D’Angelo as Alex
While the main cast are returning, you’ll notice two new names on the list that have been signed up for season 3.
Firstly, in May 2025, Deadline revealed that Costa D’Angelo would be joining as a series regular called Alex: “A psychology grad student and part-time drug dealer who has a complicated past with Bree. Although he initially comes off as aloof and borderline rude, it quickly becomes clear that there are hidden depths to him.”
And in June, Deadline reported that Iris Apatow had also been cast in a recurring role for season 3, playing Amanda: “a bubbly but fragile college freshman keeping a big secret.”
Tell Me Lies season 3 synopsis and story rumors
Major spoilers follow for Tell Me Lies seasons 1 & 2.
While Tell Me Lies started out as an adaptation of Lovering’s novel of the same name, season 2 expanded and diverged off the main path, adding in new events and storylines for viewers to follow.
So, if you’re thinking of turning to the book for a sneak peek at season 3, you’ll need to bear in mind that at this point, it’s a loose adaptation.
Fortunately, we do have an official logline for season 3 that gives us a fair bit of information about what’s to come: “Tell Me Lies season 3 follows Lucy Albright and Stephen DeMarco as they’ve rekindled their tumultuous romance in time for spring semester at Baird College.
“While they promise things will be different this time, past indiscretions hinder their best intentions, and Lucy finds herself embroiled in a controversy she wants nothing to do with.
“Meanwhile, the disastrous repercussions from the previous year also force Lucy and Stephen’s friends to face their own destructive behaviours. As scandalous secrets fester around campus, vicious consequences threaten Lucy and everyone in her circle.”
As if the scandal of the season 2 finale wasn’t enough. If you need a little reminder, at her wedding, Bree listened to a voicemail from Stephen telling her that Evan once cheated on her with Lucy. She knew he’d cheated, but not with her.
And while it’ll be addressed, showrunner Meaghan Oppenheimer says it’ll be a surprising twist. Speaking exclusively to Teen Vogue, she explained: “I think that the fallout from the voicemail is vast and brutal and wild, but it does not play out how people will anticipate.”
For season 3, executive producer Tyne Rafaeli also hinted that season 3 will turn the heat up on a lot of the show’s already sizzling drama: “It feels like the stakes of their decisions are much higher; the consequences of their decisions just feel more dangerous. They’re entering into dark areas of sexual relationships and psychological relationships that I don’t think this show has seen yet.”
Oppenheimer adds that season 3 will pick up in January 2009, as more of a “hostage situation”. Saying: “I feel like we answer the question of Stephen’s morality, to a degree, in a fun way, which I think people will be surprised by.”
For Lucy this season, Oppenheimer explains she: “has a reaction to shame that is really profound and very, very dark. People will have very strong feelings about it. I don’t think everyone’s going to like it. They’ll enjoy watching it, but I think that some people will be offended. But I’m okay with that.”
But it’s not just Lucy and Stephen’s relationship that tumultuously weaves through Tell Me Lies. Oppenheimer says that the cast and crew “were most surprised by where Bree goes this season.”
In the season 2 finale, aside from her wedding to Evan seemingly about to blow up, Baird College timeline Bree had realized that Oliver was in an open marriage with Marianne, which through the whole validity of how Oliver actually felt about her into emotional chaos.
There’s a lot to pick up on in season 3; the shocking death of Wrigley’s brother Drew, Pippa’s own personal journey to deal with the emotional toll her assault has taken on her, Bree’s crossroads in both the past and present, and, of course, the toxic relationship of Stephen and Lucy. Fortunately, there’s not long too wait.
Will there be more a Tell Me Lies season 4?
For anyone hoping for more seasons of Tell Me Lies, I’m afraid there’s some bad news.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Tom Ellis was asked if season 3 will be the last, to which he revealed: “I think so, yes. I think Meaghan [Oppenheimer] has written it to be the last season.”
And considering Meaghan is his real-life wife, it seems pretty likely that he’d know what she was planning.
While that’s disappointing news for fans, he did also add that season 3 will be the “darkest season yet,” and that’s certainly one way to go out with a bang.
