After 21 years and 11 movies, the Fast & Furiousfranchise is coming to an end, at least on the big screen. On March 17, 2028, Vin Diesel and his beloved family will be back in theaters in Fast Forever, the 11th and final movie in the franchise, which will also see Diesel joined by Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson as Deckard Shaw and Luke Hobbs, following the success of their spin-off, Hobbs & Shaw. Directed by Louis Leterrier and written by Christina Hodson and Michael Lesslie, Fast Foreveris sure to be an emotional, blockbuster big-screen end.
But fear not, Fast & Furious fans, the franchise isn’t disappearing entirely. Although you won’t be able to watch another theatrical production — until an inevitable big-screen reboot of the first film — the franchise is instead coming to TV. During an NBCUniversal upfront presentation back in May, it was officially announced that not one but four TV projects from the Fast & Furious universe were in development, with it confirmed that Mike Daniels will pen the pilot for the first series. Not much more is known about the TV transition, and more news will likely come following the 2028 movie.
In the meantime, fans are heading back to the best of the franchise to get in the mood for the 11th and final film. Known as the film that saved the franchise, following a downward trend in interest from audiences, Fast Five reignited global love for this action series and earned almost $650 million in the process. Directed by Justin Lin, the film was also well received by critics, with reviewers praising the film for embracing the chaos of the franchise and shifting into top gear. At the time of writing, Fast Five is one of the ten most-streamed movies on Peacock in the U.S., a list topped by Reminders of Him.

Recently, Dom Toretto himself took to social media to update his online family about the Fast Forever production process. “I’m on set. People are grinding. Incredible crews are working.” Diesel said. He continued, “I just wanted to take a second to say thank you. You guys are the best audience in the world, best fans in the world. You’ve been patient to the industry, you’ve been patient to the studio, and you’ve been patient with me. Over the past three and a half years, we’ve been grinding to try to make the most amazing finale.”
