‘The Intern’ Drama Based On Michele Campbell Book Set At Peacock: Excl

EXCLUSIVE: Peacock has put in development The Intern, a series based on the 2023 novel of the same name by Michele Campbell.

The project is written and executive produced by Julia Cohen and executive produced by Robert Teitel, George Tillman Jr. and Robert Prinz from State Street Pictures, with Tillman Jr. expected to direct. Campbell is a producer; Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, is the studio.

The Intern, described as a sexy, twisty legal thriller about power, corruption, and the true nature of justice, taps into Campbell’s background of Harvard University and Stanford Law School graduate. In it, when her brother is arrested, Harvard Law student Madison Rivera cuts a deal with the DOJ to save him by infiltrating the chambers of the most powerful judge in Boston, Judge Kathryn Conroy. But what begins as a mission soon veers into obsession and a dangerous game between two brilliant women who are more alike than either will admit.

Campbell worked at a Manhattan law firm before spending eight years fighting crime as a federal prosecutor in New York. Her other books include It’s Always the Husband, She Was the Quiet One, A Stranger on the Beach and The Wife Who Knew Too Much. Campbell is repped by CAA and Jane Rotrosen Agency.

Cohen created, developed and was the co-showrunner of the ABC series The Company You Keep, starring Milo Ventimiglia. Most recently, she was an exec producer on the USA Network adaptation of John Grisham’s Rainmaker. Prior to that, she was a co-EP on ABC’s A Million Little Things and Quantico. A graduate of the WB Writers’ Workshop and the WGA’s Showrunner Training Program, Cohen got her start on the TNT reboot of Dallas. She is repped by Gersh, Amplified and JSSK
